Retail Site Selection

We help retailers decide on new store locations. For an existing chain we analyse the performance of current stores to uncover the key success factors for their top performers, and search out new sites that exhibit similar characteristics. The key success factors include demographics and psychographics of the customer base, demographic and psychographic makeup of the real world trade area, proximity of competitors and complimentary retailers, accessibility of site, street layout and traffic patterns, store design and layout, signage, local topographical features (lakes, rivers, ravines,railways, freeways and other natural and mandmade barriers) and, perhaps most important, store management.

When helping retailers with site selection decisions we process all of the above factors within the context of various neighbourhoods and communities under consideration. No two markets are identical and specific sites have their own unique characteristics.
