The information required for developing a store data base and from the
sources from which the information is derived depends on how quickly a
decision needs to be made and the level of accuracy required. While
GEOmarketing Solutions maintains partnerships with the industry leading data
venders, most comprehensive market research strategies will require at least
some degree of primary data collection. GEOmarketing Solutions specializes in
providing Data Collection services to retailers and restaurants as well as
other market research firms. These services include:

In today's competitive retail environment, sales, market
share preservation and growth are mission critical to survival. Retailers
make few decisions that are as permanent and less forgiving than selecting
new store locations. Unlike pricing, marketing, and management related
problems a location-related error is permanent. Once a store is built there
is very little a retailer can do.
In the past many site location decisions were made based on retailers
"gut feel" assumptions as to such critical factors such as trade
area size, customer profile, competition etc. By using Point-of Sale
information (POS), demographic databases , primary field research
GEOmarketing Solutions can easily quantify the influence of such factors as
demographics, competition, distance on potential store performance.
At GEOmarketing Solutions Group our goal is to provide you with the tools
and expertise you need to identify all the demographic and market factors
which are important for your success. We use advanced spatial analysis technology
to rapidly integrate the appropriate demographics with your in?house sales
and marketing data. We incorporate land use planning policies and
regulations, competitive information, and primary field research
to identify locations that best represent market opportunity for your
products and services , and avoid those areas that do not.

Trade
Area Analysis
|
|
|
Market research studies aimed at determining market
potential and site selection suitability routinely evaluate local
demographics, competitor locations and logistical factors within the proposed
trade area ( the geographic area from which a store can expect to draw
between 65-80% of its sales).
Traditionally, trade areas have been defined and evaluated using
concentric ring studies. This over simplistic approach can result in the
inaccurate delineation of the trade area and lead to inaccurate market
research and site selection "mission critical"
decisions. Advancements Trade Area Delineation recognize that consumer
behavior patterns cannot easily be compartmentalized into neat concentric
circles.
At GEOmarketing Solutions we delineate Trade Areas by combining consumer
based Point-of-Sale Data with the most advanced analytical techniques,
patronage probability models and Drive Time software that also take into
account important factors such as road network systems, physical and man-made
barriers, accessibility patterns, population distribution, as well as the
location and strength of competition.

Demographic
Profiles and Forecasts
|
|
|
One of the most important pieces of information used in
retail location research involves the analysis of the nature and number of
the potential customers located within a store's Trade Area. GEOmarketing
Solutions can provide a demographic profile for any size trade area using
demographic and market segmentation data from a variety of
commercial, institutional and government suppliers as well as our own
extensive data warehouses.
As important as it is to know the number of potential customers currently
located in your trade area it is equally important if not more important to
know the number of potential customers forecast to be in your Trade Area in
the future. GEOmarketing Solutions provides population projection and growth
forecasts from a variety of commercial, institutional and government sources
for all urban centers in Canada. We have also developed our own industry
unique micro- population projection model called GEO-RGE
(Geographic Real Growth Expectancy) to forecast population growth in even the
smallest trade areas.

|
|
|

your customer profile using a variety of techniques including Point-of

|
|

|
Store Performance Evaluation
|
|
|
By comparing actual store performance levels of your
existing locations against the average store sales GEOmarketing Solutions can
assist you in analyzing geo-demographic trade area
characteristics of your stronger units against your poorer performers in
order to identify areas of opportunity and areas to avoid.

Custom Application Development & Map Enabled
Web Sites
|
|
|
With the recent advent of Internet (and intranet) mapping,
we have expanded our capabilities to include software development. Using
MapBasic, MapXsite and MapXtreme, we have the capability to develop anything
from a simple MapInfo Professional enhancement right through to a
multi-server, multi-user Internet mapping system. We can also develop
spreadsheets, macros and programs to perform data creation and conversion
tasks.
With MapXtreme, selected elements of MapInfo Professional can be embedded
into an internet application so that the end user only sees what you want him
or her to see. Basic maps can be produced using MapInfo Professional, then
those maps can be directly used by MapXtreme. This is a perfect solution
where maps maintained by one or two departments need to be viewed, analysed
and printed in many different physical locations.
In conjunction with our experienced partners GSG can design, develop,
implement and support your mapping application, providing you with a system
that will pay for itsself many times over.
